Specific applications by type of analyzer
Gas Chromatography
Keeping the sample at the same temperature and condition as it exists in the process stream ensures analyzer accuracy.
Liquid or water contamination of the sample will cause a major dysfunction, so the sample needs to be maintained above its dew point at all times - a perfect application for TRACEPAK.
Gas Chromatography typically use a single small diameter tube, 6mm or 1/4" seamless stainless steel or Teflon, with an electric tracer capable of maintaining 60°C/140°F at various ambient conditions, such as O'Brien's TRACEPAK.
It is also common to have a multiple tube bundle for gas chromatography. An additional tube is often used to return the unused sample back to the process. Return lines for gas chromatography usually only require freeze protection.

Total Hydrocarbon Analyzers
More challenging than most sample transport systems, THA have high exposure temperatures and high maintenance temperatures (above 120°C/250°F).
To avoid failed sample lines, a thorough design with proper tubing such as PFA Teflon and a temperature controller is needed.
Continuous Emissions Monitoring
Tubing bundles for the CEM market incorporate a wide variety of configurations typically for dry or wet extractive systems.
In dry extractive systems, after the sample is extracted from the flue and conditioned to remove particulates and moisture, the gaseous sample is transported in a heat traced line to an environmental enclosure where the analyzer is located. The heat traced line is commonly a tubing bundle (we recommend TRACEPAK) containing separate lines for the sample and calibration gas. An unheated blowback line is often included as well.
In wet extractive systems, commonly used by process industries, the sample needs to be maintained above the vaporization temperature when transported to the analyzer. This prevents acids from condensing out of the sample. TRACEPAK used for these applications generally require high temperature heaters and a temperature controller.
